WATERSHED BOARD TRANSITIONS
As we begin a new year, we welcome new trustees and bid farewell to others stepping away.
We are thrilled to share that Jill Snyder and Ina Kaur have joined Watershed Board!
Jill Snyder founded Snyder Consultancy in 2021 after having held museum leadership positions for over 25 years with a record of leading innovation, growth, and change. Snyder has advised museums, artist foundations, and architecture studios and convened thought leaders in dialogue on cultural leadership and museum design.
As executive director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (1997-2020), Snyder leveraged moCa’s beginnings as a small but influential arts center to become a vital civic hub. She led the team to build an internationally recognized, iconic building which became an emblem for Cleveland’s cultural renaissance. Snyder served as Director of the Aldrich Museum (1995-1997); Freedman Gallery at Albright College (1993-1995); Senior Lecturer, Museum of Modern Art, NY (1989-1993); Executive Associate, Solomon R Guggenheim Museum (1983-1988).
Ina Kaur is a multidisciplinary artist whose conceptually driven work responds to imbalances and injustices within social, cultural, and ecological environments. Her practice explores intersectional frameworks within contemporary issues related to colonialism and its lasting impacts.
Her multidisciplinary art practice has been exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. Kaur has gained significant aGen4on, resulting in invitations to lectures and conferences across America, Europe, and South Asia. A recipient of numerous grants and awards, she is also deeply committed to community engagement, developing initiatives, and participating in responsive artistic practices.
In 2018, Kaur was honored with the Emerging Voice Award from the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University. This recognition highlights her success in achieving career goals, serving her community, and representing the college through bold leadership and broad thinking.
Kaur currently serves as the Curator of Creative Practice and Community Engagement Coordinator at the Newcomb Art Museum while continuing to teach studio art courses at Tulane University. A native of New Delhi, India, she now lives and works in New Orleans, LA.
We also celebrate several Trustees who are stepping away. Sarah Yardly Jenkins, Jyoti Puri, and Jeanne Baker Driscoll, our three trustees who completed their terms of service at the end of 2024. Bernie Toale is stepping down as President after a heroic period of leadership but will continue serving in the Past President role. Sarah joined the Board in 2020 and has brought a wealth of experience from the Clinton Health Initiative in her support of Watershed. Jyoti joined the board in 2022, and has served as a powerful voice through an important time for Watershed. Jeanne has served on the Watershed Board for decades, stewarding the organization through numerous changes and developments. We are so grateful for their support and for Jeanne’s long-standing leadership, insight, intelligence and endlessly supportive commitment to Watershed! We look forward to celebrating them at the 2025 Salad Days event!
