Executive
Director: Tyler Gulden

Tyler oversees the operations of Watershed. Employed at Watershed since 2000, his previous work with the organization
began as the Program Coordinator. A practicing ceramic artist, Tyler received his BFA from New York State College of Ceramics
at Alfred University, and his MFA from University of Massachussetts
Dartmouth. He was studio assistant to Chris Gustin which lead
to his inclusion in the International Multimedia Symposium at
Watershed as a technical advisor in 1999. With 15 years experience
as a studio and production potter and ten years of teaching experience
in throwing and handbuilding ceramics, as well as two years as
ceramics studio technician at UMass Dartmouth, Tyler brings strong
skills and knowledge of clay processes to the center. He makes his home in South Bristol
with his wife Kat, a nurse, his sons Camden and Jarrett, and daughter
Reed.

Jody has an extensive background as a fiber artist and textile designer.
She is the founder and owner of Botanical Shades; a yarn company that produces
artisan yarns from locally raised fibers that are hand-dyed exclusively with
natural dyes. Botanical Shades also produces a line of hand-woven scarves,
knitted shawls and original knitting designs. She most recently worked at
Swan’s Island Blanket Company in Northport ME as the master dyer and colorist.
Jody comes to Watershed with a background in non-profit administration.
She worked at Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association in Deerfield MA,
which is the umbrella organization for Memorial Hall Museum, as an
executive assistant before moving to Maine in 2007. She also worked as an
independent scholar and as an intern at Historic Deerfield with Edward Maeder,
the curator of textiles.
As a graduate of Smith College with a degree in anthropology and art history,
as well as a concentration in museum studies, Jody brings to Watershed an
appreciation of the ceramic arts. She has also studied costume history as a
graduate student at the University of Massachusetts.
Residency
Manager: Reed Fahnestock

Among his many duties as Studio Manager, Reed Fahnestock acts as an interface between the residents and the
facilities by maintaining the kilns and equipment and providing safety and technical information and over sight
for staff, assistants, and volunteers.
He received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. He attended Kansas State University where he studied
with Yoshiro Ikeda, was awarded the Strecker-Nelson Gallery MFA Scholarship, built a new wood kiln, and
taught beginning and advanced ceramics. Most recently, he was the inaugural artist in residence at Pinon
Hill Pottery in La Veta, Colorado. He was also artist in residence for two years at Pope Valley Pottery
in the Napa Valley in California. His son, Ri, is Studio Shop Manager at the University of New Hampshire
in Durham and recently came in second in a hotly contested National Wife Carrying Competition in nearby Sunday River.
